I am not ashamed to admit that I spend a lot of time checking out Pinterest (http://pinterest.com/stefanietolbert). One of my goals is to do a little practice with my food photography and my cooking, by picking a recipe every week or so to try out. So this week I decided to try the Brown Butter Snickerdoodles from Ambitious Kitchen. My mom has passed down a snickerdoodle recipe that I usually use, and I have pretty high standards for this type of cookie. But I was really pleasantly surprised!
Brown butter is not something I’ve used before, but it’s not too complicated. Basically, you heat unsalted butter in a pan until it turns brown. But you have to keep whisking so that it doesn’t stick or burn.
Eventually, it’ll look more like this:
The saddest part of making these cookies is that they have to chill for several hours.
Once they were good and chilled (I think I may have left mine a little too long because they were pretty hard to get out of the bowl and into little balls but they were fine after I let them defrost a bit). You roll them into balls and then roll them in cinnamon and sugar.
And finally you have this delicious-ness!! I had to take a cue from my dad and eat a few “defective ones.” You gotta watch that quality control!
